-Maybe you have some experience, and want some guidance to get to the next level.
-Maybe you live in an area that doesn’t have many professional bass players, and you need help.
-Maybe you just need help on a song you have to play in your band next week.
-Maybe you need some ideas to freshen your improvising.
Steve can help you!
Steve is an experienced teacher of both the upright bass and the electric bass. He was the chair of the bass department at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (a Berklee College of Music international affiliate), in Quito, Ecuador, where he taught all levels, from beginner to pre-professional. Since his move to New York, he has taught a range of students, from teenagers wanting to play in a rock band at school, to retired semi-professionals who wanted to develop proper technique.
Steve holds a degree in Jazz and Studio Music with Distinguished Honors from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Chris Berg. He also studied classical technique with Rick Vizachero of the Cincinnati Symphony, and improvisation with Alan Bern.
Steve is comfortable teaching in English and Japanese, and can work with students who primarily speak Spanish with limited English.
Interested in a lesson? Don’t hesitate to send Steve a message- he’s really nice and will be happy to answer any questions and work with you.
